The countrys first Silicon City is being built in Rajshahi. The construction work of Varendra Silicon City will be started at the beginning of next year. Initially, 46 crores have been allocated for Silicon City. To maintain administrative activities in this city, a ten-storey tower will be constructed for construction and training of four storied buildings. After construction of Varendra Silicon City, the employment of 14 thousand people will be created. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said this.
The State Minister said the government decided to set up 10 thousand digital labs in the school college across the country by 2018
At present, students in primary and high schools are classed in multimedia classrooms. Multimedia classrooms have been created in many high schools and colleges. Now the government has decided to set up a multimedia classrooms as well as a digital lab in school colleges.
This work will be done under the project to establish Sheikh Russell Digital Lab in every educational institute in order to develop future generations efficient and suitable. By 2021 the government will do everything to ensure targets of income of five billion dollars in the IT sector. Seven ICT parks are being set up in seven divisions of the country. ICT parks will be set up in every district town. ICT parks will play an important role in creating jobs for skilled and well-qualified young people.
The IT department has said that ICT Park construction project has been taken up in the districts in the development of Information Technology (ICT). In the meantime, construction of ICT Park in some districts is almost done in the last phase. These include - Electronic City in Sylhet, IT Village in Mohakhali, Rajshahi IT Village, Public Tower Tower Software Technology Park in Kawran Bazar, Jessore Sheikh Hasina Software Park, Natore Prelancer Institute. The government has given more importance to increasing the quality of IT services.
The country has moved far ahead by utilizing the possibility of ICT sector. By 2021, the country will be fully developed as an ICT-dependent. Creating software for scientific database, human resources development database, financial database, library database and medical database are being created under the program titled BCSIIR Database Preparation and Information Technology Automation.
This service will be delivered to the people through optical fiber network across the country. To develop skilled manpower in the field of information technology, the government has taken timely steps to set up high-tech parks in different parts of the country, to provide proper management and management through establishing high-tech park in Gazipur. Decision to set up a technology park or IT village to ensure area-based development by examining the feasibility of setting up IT Village at divisional level.
Many of these projects have already been appointed consultants. US businessmen express their interest in investing in the IT sector after hearing this statement of the State Minister. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with two important organizations of America. They will invest in ICT Park in Bangladesh. An MOU was signed between Bangladesh Computer Association and American Association of Bangladeshi Engineers (AABEA).
According to the Memorandum of Understanding, the agreement between the two countries on cyber defense, data centers, call centers and outsourcing is agreed. A tripartite MOU has been signed between GAP, BCC and BASIS to help in creating start-up projects in ICT sector of Bangladesh. Through this agreement, further development will be done in the information technology sector of the country.
Junaid Ahmed Palak said the government is committed to building digital Bangladesh. This technology is working tirelessly to develop IT and develop the future generations in technology. He announced the start of the construction work of Varendra Silicon City in Zianagar, Rajshahi next year. Earlier no Silicon City was declared in the country. For this, 46 million taka has been allocated. Now the work will be started by calling the tender.
